With family, friends and desserts abound, December is one of our favorite times of year here at Rhino. Our passion for flavor inspires us to create the delicious ice cream inclusions that our customers know and love us for while also making some tasty combinations in our home kitchens to enjoy with our family and friends. Below are some of our favorite make-at-home treats for a little holiday dessert inspiration. The best part? These are all easy to make, customizable, and out-of-this-world delicious!
Cookie Dough Pretzel Bites
Cookie dough is our thing. It’s the perfect combination of sweetness and brown notes from molasses, chocolate, and brown sugar. The gooey chewy dough wrapped around the crunchiness from the sugar and chocolate makes it our most favorite sweet treat of all time. While we’re big fans of snacking on cookie dough on it’s own, we’re kicking it up a notch by adding even more crunch, savoriness and sweetness. To make this easy holiday treat, we sandwiched Ben and Jerry’s snackable cookie dough chunks between two pretzels and dipped one edge in melted chocolate. Bonus points for colorful sprinkles on top!
Eggnog Brownie Milkshake
Here at Rhino, we like our brownies fudgy, moist and dense. We play with different types of cocoa to make a complex chocolate flavor and add just-the-right-amount of other ingredients to perfectly balance buttery vanilla undertones. This time of year, we recommend pairing brownies with eggnog and ice cream to whip up an insanely delicious and easy to make milkshake. Just combine eggnog, vanilla ice cream, a handful of gingersnaps, and chocolate syrup a blender and swirl to perfection. Top with whipped cream and brownie pieces to seal the deal. A few helpful pointers can be found here to make sure your milkshake is the best ever.
Pumpkin Cake Trifle
Pumpkin. Cake. Trifle. An old school dessert that never goes out of style. Trifles are easy and flexible, allowing for some creativity with ingredients. The traditional trifle components are cake, custard, whipped cream and fruit, but we put a Rhino spin on this version and combined pumpkin cake pieces with whipped cream, gingersnaps and toasted pecans. We like our pumpkin cake with a warm and slightly spicy flavor profile thanks to the perfect marriage of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. It’s the ultimate cozy holiday treat when paired with the sweet whipped cream and earthy pecans. Check out this page for a few tips on how to make an impressive trifle without needing to follow a full recipe.
We hope you enjoy making these recipes, and we’d love to hear from you on Facebook or Instagram if you do! From all of us at Rhino, we’re wishing you a holiday season filled with joy, love and all your favorite desserts.
