Without our employees, we wouldn’t have Rhino Foods. They’re indispensable therefore we continue to think of ways to support and engage our community.
The newest initiative to support our workforce is Women@Rhino, a grassroots group for female-identifying employees. The focus of these meetings is to encourage women across departments and shifts to join an ongoing conversation around gender and inclusivity. Initially formed in response to feedback and conversations happening in the workplace, the group now meets monthly. Ultimately, anyone of any gender can attend these meetings, and the goal is to create a space for learning and relationship building in our community.
The most recent meeting was held in conjunction with Change the Story VT, an organization working to significantly improve women’s economic status in our state by providing space for conversations around gender, language, and implicit bias. Twenty women (about half those working at Rhino) were in attendance that morning. Some were getting off third shift in production, while others were arriving early before their workdays began. Everyone came in quietly, passing muffins, fruit, and orange juice around the conference room table.
